Colorimetric variation and correlation of biometric parameters between umbu matrices

Abstract The umbu tree is an endemic species and found in the Brazilian semi-arid. Umbu highly appreciated for its socioeconomic importance significant diversity of quality attributes. This study aims to explore color-related variations between matrices, evaluate correlation main biometric attributes quality. With this, 14 matrices were explored at commercial ripening stage submitted colorimetric analysis (a*, b*, C* L*) determination parameters (fruit mass, length, width, shape, firmness, percentages peel, seed, pulp, yield). evaluated by Scott-Knott mean test dendrogram, biometrics linear analysis. It was observed that peel green predominates, compared lowest luminosity indexes (L*) consist fruits with hairy peel. saturation (C*) has a direct relationship parameter b*; addition, dendrogram indicates formation four groups matrices. showed tendencies. Therefore, results reinforce can provide important tool selecting control these fruits, since required characteristics change according their purpose.
